First time making scones and I think I aced them! Checkout the super simple recipe! Even had all the ingredients on hand!
Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 6 tablespoons sugar
- 4-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons cold butter
- 2 large eggs
- 3/4 cup plus an extra 2 tablespoons milk to brush tops
- 1-1/2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
Directions
- Combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a bowl.
- Cut in butter until you achieve crumbs.
- In separate bowl, whisk eggs and 3/4 cup milk.
- Then add wet ingredients to dry ingredients.
- Gently knead dough on lightly floured surface and add blueberries.
- Divide dough in half. Pat each portion into an 8 inch circle. Then cut each into eight wedges.
- Place on greased baking sheets.
- Brush tops with milk.
- Bake at 375° for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
Sit back and enjoy! These are best served warm.
Note:
If using frozen blueberries do not thaw as this will cause even more discolouration of the batter.
